Space Suite H-305 by Siamon89 Space Suite H-305 by Siamon89
The Space Suite H-305. Continuation of my "Space _____" series. An imagination of a 4-star space hotel suite in distant future...

And yes, the food boxes on the far right are actually Dharma food boxes from Lost.

Critique by Materia-Arts Sep 17, 2010, 1:22:50 AM
OK here goes, I have not done a critique before.

As for the vision, it reminds me of the movie aliens in a way that the look and feel is of the nature of the movie's elaborate sets and it's futuristic character aliens has.In saying this i think this vision is a step beyond.

For the originality, it does not lack anything that has not been done before but adds to it fivefold. The original theme is in the eye of the beholder but in this case the artist has given us a good imagination on the theme of a hotel in space, and i can just imagine using that "elevator in space"
to ascend here.

The technique is very nicely done with details everywhere and aesthetics in design aplenty, 5 stars here.

Impact hit me straight away, as if i wanted to sleep here just for one night and look at that gorgeous milky way whilst connected to my i pod outlet listening to Devin Townsend's Ocean Machine or A Perfect Circle.
What do you think?

As am I, but can can tell that your are very talented and such more. Thou you and do better for example the glasses of wine there, you could have done the reflexion of the glass to the floor or water, but anyways apart form that every thing is amazing just wonderful. The structure is really reallistic and such. i love the way in how the sun reflects on the windows and stuff. But I notice that some reflexions of shadow aren't there, but overall look of all this is from my point of veiw that is i give it an 8.5 out of 10.

Keep up the good work.

This images exist on so many websites (over 30!) and not a single one of them has a description as to whom the author is much less as to where they got it from! Frustrating. I finally found one site that had a comment to this site so I can say this to you, siamon89:

Nice work!

The list would be so long!

You can however search for your image on Google--Images and pick out these sites one by one. That's a good list as anything. :)

Regards,

Jonathan

For artificial gravity, I imagine the hotel must:

A) be ring-shaped
or
B) have its own gravity generator

I typed in "Space Hotel" and this was the first picture up. And It got me thinking that this would be a perfect fit for Arjen Anthony Lucassen's 'Space Hotel' off his recently released solo album! One of my favorite songs off the amazing album. You should totally have a listen and perhaps try another jus tlike this built by inspiration from Arjen's 'Space Hotel'! :D

I really like the view out the window in this one even though I suspect it's not that likely a feature in real space ships.

A window that big? Today? Or in the near future it's not an option, unless they invent some kind of seriously stronger glass.

How did you get that glow on the buttons? You do that in 3DS max or photoshop? I most make a sci-fi hangar for school and for somethings i want a glow or neon glow... But the most tutorials for glow in 3DS max are not so good or not that what i need.
You just youse the glow of the mentalray shader?

thx :) love your work

Thanks. If you are talking about the bloom effect, it's done in photoshop. Otherwise they are already self-illuminated (arch&design material) in 3ds Max.

Really nice!
However:
- The bed, seems like it's wall mounted, yet there is light coming from the far end of it? Looks like it's from behind the bed shining out through a glitch?
-The stand by the windows.. it floats in mid air, or is not seated on the floor. It matches level to the raised parts of the floor but hovers over the declined parts. Maybe just move it a bit so it stands on the lower parts only?

These are just minor flaws in an otherwise really well done picture. Would love to spend some time at that hotel. =)

Glad you like it mate (=.

Holy $*!_ I never noticed the stand by the window, it's really against the physic laws! I mean there has been a year or maybe more and I notice it now.. Wow..

About the bed, it might be wall-mounted or not, it is open to the viewer but even if it's wall-mounted there can be still light coming from behind, because the mounting system doesn't need to be consecutively between the bed and the wall, it can have a depth of i.e. 20cm. in open position.
