It's the image right out of 3ds Max. With no post-processing on Photoshop or any other software.

You don't have to. It's done for many purposes. E.g. exposure correction or gamma correction. Or to add bloom or other cinematic effects, lighting effects etc. Usually nothing in the CGI industry is raw, whether it is a movie, After Effects or else software is used, whether it is a still, PS or other software is used to manipulate it.
